Our interest in yoga was developed through our belief in the benefits of complimentary and conditioning exercise for injuries resulting from sports and overuse. Over eight years of managing these kinds of injuries, the team at Touch Point Massage have found yoga to consistently be a huge benefit for clients on the road to recovery.
Because yoga is a relatively low-intensity exercise, it can help anyone – and particularly those with sports-related injuries – to develop long-term strength, fitness and physical conditioning through postures that have been developed over hundreds of years.

Yoga will slowly but surely change your body. It might hurt a little at first, but these are the first signs that you will soon stand taller, sit, walk and run with a better posture, recover from injury quicker and feel an openness and ease of existence within your physical self.

Developing Your Mind through Yoga

We’ve also found in our classes that another excellent benefit of yoga is the opportunity to further develop and reinforce the minds of participants. The calming nature and low-intensity of yoga allows for participants to focus on relaxation and reduce stress. It is also an excellent way to counteract the negativite mental state created by a sedentary lifestyle, a particularly valuable benefit for industry professionals who regularly work sitting down.

Over the millennia it has been practiced, Ashtanga Yoga has helped participants develop wisdom and spirituality through mind and soul. Ashtanga literally translates to the 8 limbs of Yoga (Astha = 8 / Anga = Limb), like the branches of a tree, unwind through the duration of the practice. With ethical disciplines, our own self-observation starts to develop into the different postures of the practice.
